1992 Stock

Built in Derby with Japanese-built bogies and the first chopper-controlled traction on the Underground. The Waterloo & City units were classed as BR Class 482 until the line passed to London Underground in 1994.

Status
In service: 85 Central line trains, 71 of them needed for the weekday peak, and 5 on the Waterloo & City. The Central Line Improvement Programme (new motors, CCTV, wheelchair spaces) had rebuilt 5 trains by 30 June 2026 and is due to finish by 2030. Replacement is a 2030s aspiration, not an order.
